Christmas is well and truly here...

We have come to the end of a busy week and the Dolls are taking a well deserved break.

We have been singing at private parties and corporate functions all week so it is time to pat ourselves on the back for a great festive singing season and lift up a glass of mulled wine to toast our supporters and friends...thanks everyone.

Christmas Tunes in Our Heads...

Yes it is definitely that time of year...

Christmas trees, thoughts of Christmas shopping, snow covering the ground (well maybe not here in Edinburgh - rain perhaps?).

Regardless, it is the season to bring some singing joy to the people of Edinburgh and beyond.

We have a number of Christmas gigs and concerts ahead of us so we are rehearsing the Christmas tunes like mad.

The D.Dolls will be singing at The Traverse Bar in Edinburgh...

More details to follow, but we are singing as part of a larger cabaret session on Saturday 30 November 2013.

We will be singing a selection of our repertoire so please, come along.

It's Christmas Party Season...

We know that Christmas seems like a long way away - after all,  it was sunny only last weekend.

Just a wee reminder that if you, or any of your colleagues and friends, are having Christmas functions and would like some entertainment - perhaps when guests are arriving, or when they are having dinner, please be in touch to discuss any arrangements.

We can cater to a wide variety of situations and occasions (from home concerts to corporate functions) offering a mix of solo and ensemble repertoire ranging from old Sinatra tunes to film and festive classics.

Christmas tunes already...September has only just started!!!

Well folks...we can't believe that it is only 2nd September and we are already rehearsing Christmas tunes!

A few tracks we recorded at last night's rehearsal...

During last night's rehearsal, we thought it might be fun to record a few tracks so people could see what we are up to.

After a few false starts with technology we got there - this is the result...it's amazing what you can do with nothing more than an iPad...please bear in mind we are only rehearsing!

Portobello Awaits...

Thursday 22nd August sees The D.Dolls take to the seaside at The Espy.

We will be performing a fabulous set of tunes from the 1930s to the 1950s with a few modern numbers thrown in for good measure.

To make it a bit of an occasion, The Espy is throwing a 'Prohibition Party' with the staff dressed up in Prohibition style costume, drink specials (so we are told) and of course us...OK, technically The Dolls are post-Prohibition, but it is a party nonetheless and we are all there to have a great time.

So please join us at The Espy, Thursday 22nd August 2013.  We start at about 21:00.

The Joy of 'Mixed' Weather

Looking outside the window at the moment and into the parking lot at work, it is all looking a bit grey...but The Dolls are not put off by a bit of grey and rain (after all it is Scotland).  So...we will be searching the back of our cupboards and closets for wellie boots and brollies...

According the BBC weather forecast it is...'mixed' - see Saturday's forecast . So please make sure that you come along prepared for a bit of 'mixed' weather. We will have our wellies on...

The weather may be mixed, but we will still be brightening up the street with bunting, singing and a bit of fun...

Aaahhhh...an Edinburgh summer

Well, the weather has just about sorted itself out to a steady state of sun (sometimes), rain (not always), and cloud (mostly).  But that hasn't stopped The D.Dolls forging ahead with summer and autumn plans...see more on our 'FORTHCOMING EVENTS' page.  There's a garden party in store and a gig in Portobello...!

Well - it's been a while...

Yes, it has been a while since we have last posted, but that doesn't mean that there hasn't been movement forward in leaps and bounds!!!

So we'll start with a quick update...

1. We had great fun in summer 2012 as we wrote, produced and performed in our very own Edinburgh Festival Fringe show.  Our four nights at the Royal Scots Club were absolutely fabulous and the show was very well received by our audiences.
2. Emma, one of the lovely Dolls, moved to sunny California (who can blame her) to get married and start a family.
3. Claire McVicar joined us as a fabulous, soprano Doll
4. 'Piano' Paul Millest also joined us to tinkle the ivories and to add that certain sparkle to our D.Doll family.
5. Plans are afoot for Summer 2013 and a few gigs lined up for the Fall - all good!
